stuff i've done lately

Long time no blog. but as for this summer has been a fun one. after reffing part of the summer i had a break and then got to teach at my summer camp again. teaching american high school students chinese is always an adventure. below is a bad picture of our night market we did. basically a chinese themed carnival. we all had a blast.

here is a picture of a few of the kids doing a karaoke performance.

other than teaching i have been filling my time with basically anything i want. i have spent as much time as i can in the out doors and with friends. this is us hiking the Y.

here is a pic of us at Stewart falls. this has been my favorite hike so far. beautiful water falls and green forests to walk through.

at the moment i am at Cd'A visiting family. when i return from my short trip i will have a little less than a month to continue what is probably my last free living summer. if anyone has any suggestions on how i can use my time the best please let me know. :)

Blizzard 2010

Starting Saturday the news reports were saying nothing about the enormous blizzard that was going to hit with a vengeance Tuesday. As Tuesday drew closer the weather men started warning everyone to stay inside and cancel any travel plans.

Finally Tuesday came and businesses and Schools made plans. BYU, UVU, and USU all closed their doors at 3:00 pm. giving people time to get inside before the snow and wind was supposed to hit at 4:00 pm.

I hunkered down got some hot chocolate and waited by the window to see the fireworks( so to speak).

As you can see from the pictures below, the Blizzard was everything they said it would be :)

Just look at the amount of snow that we were hit with. I don't know about you but i'm glad i stayed inside. piles of snow this high should be left alone while we are safe inside.

I mean look. the Grass is almost half way covered. BYU was smart to cancel all the night classes.

And look. the water on the pool cover has ice floating in it. That is too cold to go outside. If there is ice in that water than imagine what would be on the roads. It is a good thing that some restaurants closed early so we wouldn't be tempted to go outside and drive on them :)

All i know is i won't forget this storm for a long long time.

a New home after going Home for a needed break

I wanted to put these pictures after the ones of my trip home but blog spot had another plan. So here it is. This is my room (slightly organized) it is hard to get a good angle on it but it is the biggest room in the apartment and the closet is about a foot longer, so i like it.
here is the kitchen, which has a lot more counter space than my last one, so i am happy. and the picture didn't turn out that well, but the pantry is about three times bigger than my last place as well :)

Here is the living room. you can see that the mini-fridge is in use. it has gone from my fridge for food and stuff, like it was in my last apartment, and has gone back to a soda dispenser :) unfortunately i am the only person in the apartment who has a TV, thanks again to Matt, so i don't have a TV in the room. it is ok though, i'm fine :)

Before i moved into my new palace I was fortunate enough to have a little over a week to go home and relax. I left the hot, dry, brown, and ugly Utah. I arrived to the beautiful, luscious, GREEN, and beautiful Coeur d' Alene Idaho. Lets just say it was nice to look out the window and be pleased with what i see again.

I spent as much time as i could catching up with family and securing my "favorite Uncle" status. (which i'm proud to say is extremely secure :)

Another great thing about being home is i was able to get my tinkering fix in. I can't say how much i miss building things and having projects. i missed the shop and this trip gave me my fix.
because Grant took the corn hole set he built with him the Coeur 'd Alene house was in need of another. So i went to work. I didn't think to take pictures until I was done building but here is the process from there.

After they were assembled we went to the painting process.
Mom and i agreed that they corn hole set had to remind us of home. So we put a "Mom" touch to them :)

the bags are rubber ducks and real ducks. and the corn hole boards are ponds and grass (where ducks like to hang out ;)

back by popular demand

The last few weeks i have had multiple independent people ask me when i am doing my, "Chocolate fest", which is what people have started calling it.(ps, no idea why it is partly underlined, and i can't fix it, weird). I usually only do my dessert night the night before finals week, but these people were kind enough to remind me that spring term finals were the coming week.

So not to disappoint the masses i decided that, even though i am not taking classes, those that are needed the break. so i started baking.

so, the first time i did this in Provo, i had left overs for about a week, and that is with all of my roommates helping me eat them. the second time about they lasted about a day. well, i guess the word was out because an hour and a half after i opened my doors all i had left was about three rice crispy treats and two brownies. everyone got to eat and all were happy, which is what matters.

i would be incredibly ungrateful if i didn't thank Nikki again for her toffee cheese cake recipe . it is always the first to go at these parties, and also the most talked about item. it has made me a famous cook and everyone talks about it. i try to give you the credit when i can. thank you so so much!!!

FYI

Well, yet another drama full experience. Just so you know, Nikki and i are no longer dating. to make a long story short, I have recently found out that she had been lying about some pretty important things. And when i asked about why she did her answer was she didn't want to lose me. which is always a good reason to lie (insert sarcastic tone).
But hey look on the bright side, at least there is no chance of having two nikkis in the family, that would have been confusing.

The Glass is half full

So, for those of you that don't know Provo is big about parking. There are many parking lots that are strict about where and when you can park. Well, i was at Nikki's place and i parked in a visitor's spot. This particular spot was only available for four hours at a time.

Well, i thought that i would be able to hear the tow truck coming and move. This, unfortunately was not the case. five and a half hours later i came out to see an empty parking space instead of my car. The good news is that the towing company is one building down the street.

So i called the company and walked down and waited for the man to come give me my car. it ended up costing more than i care to share. As i talked to the guy that towed my truck he tried to cheer me up. He admitted that my car was the hardest he has ever tried to tow. A combination of the small size of my parking space and the fact that my E-brake was on, made it so it took him a half an hour to hook up my car instead of the normal five minutes.

So to sum up, i did have to pay for my mistake, but at least i annoyed the guy that towed my car :)

Ps. Some of you know that there is a new girl in my life. Her name is Nikki (Damon said he approved of the name). and in response to some request below there is a picture of the my beautiful girl. Enjoy

Just for fun

My boss asked us to pick the best ten things that someone has said to us this season. i thought some of you might enjoy it as well. So in no particular order, here they are:

  • Hey she fixed my wedgie
  • Its the playoffs, don't call that
  • HE'S TOUCHING ME!!
  • His pants came down, isn't that a penalty?
  • Hey, can you tell them to stop throwing my flag on the ground?
  • After a girl's team punts: Kicking team: what happens when i touch it? Receiving team: i don't know, can i touch it? Kicking team: you pick it up and i'll pull your flag. Receiving team: deal.
  • He he's wearing a white shirt too. Make him put on a different shirt.
  • How come every time i hit him you call a foul on me?
  • A gril asked me: if we decline the penalty can we get the ball? I answered: The penalty is on you. So no, you can't decline.
  • I asked: Do you want offense, defense or differ. She asked: What does offense mean?

hoped you enjoyed them ;)
